Aluminium Alloys — Lightweight Components for Demanding Applications

We source aluminium castings in a comprehensive range of alloys, optimised for strength, corrosion resistance, machinability and thermal conductivity. Aluminium is the material of choice for weight-critical applications across the automotive, aerospace, electronics and industrial sectors.

Why aluminium?

Aluminium alloys offer an exceptional combination of low weight, high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity. This makes them ideal for a wide range of structural and functional applications.

Common aluminium casting alloys

AlSi alloys (4000 series)

Silicon-rich alloys with excellent castability and good corrosion resistance. Widely used for die castings and sand castings.

  • AlSi7Mg (A356) — high strength, heat treatable
  • AlSi9Cu3 (A380) — general purpose die casting
  • AlSi12 (A413) — excellent fluidity, pressure-tight

AlCu alloys (2000 series)

Copper-containing alloys with high mechanical strength. Commonly used in aerospace and structural applications.

AlMg alloys (5000 series)

Magnesium-containing alloys with excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments.

Casting methods for aluminium

  • Sand casting — flexible, suitable for prototypes and medium volumes
  • Die casting (HPDC/LPDC) — high volumes, excellent surface finish
  • Investment casting — complex geometries, tight tolerances
  • Gravity die casting — good mechanical properties, medium volumes

Post-processing

We offer complete post-processing services including CNC machining, heat treatment (T6, T7), anodising, powder coating, painting and assembly.

Traficator sources aluminium castings from qualified foundries in Sweden and internationally. Contact us to discuss alloy selection and production methods for your application.
