What is investment casting?
Investment casting is a process in which a precise wax pattern of the component is created and then encased in a ceramic shell. Once the shell is complete, the wax is melted out and molten metal is poured into the ceramic mould. The method provides very high precision and enables complex geometries that are difficult or impossible to achieve through machining alone.
The method is also known as lost-wax casting or precision casting.
